LOST GRAVITY Welcomes New Members: A Power Trio Emerges

Hey guys, hope you’re well!

Been a while since I last wrote here and a big change has happened since my last blog. If you follow the band on any social media you know that Giuliano left LOST GRAVITY.

Early in April this year we played our last gig together at Helgi’s in London. It was a great night and a bit emotional I must say.

The following months I was looking for new members to join LOST GRAVITY until in July I replied an ad of a band looking for a front man. Unfortunately the band didn’t want to join forces, however their bassist was interested and he had a drummer friend to bring along. So at the end of July we had our first jam together and everything just felt right. Steve (bass) and Ricky (drums) are the new members of LOST GRAVITY and I am very happy that we are now a power trio!

Playing as a duo for such a long time was cool but I must admit that I always felt a bit lonely on stage with Giuliano hiding behind the drum kit.

Earlier this month on the 5th of October the new line up of LOST GRAVITY debut on stage playing an awesome show at Temple of Art & Music (TAM) in London. That was a very special gig not only coz it was the first show with new line up, but also because we played our debut album on its entirety as we were celebrating its 10th anniversary!! “Time flies when you’re having fun” they say, and they’re right! By the way, if you follow this blog apologies for never updating it with the 2014 events…lol That was a mad year with very little time to report what was going on.

So as I write this we have got a few gigs lined up.

We are playing at The World’s End in Camden on the 25th of October. This is gonna be a different show for us as we’ll be playing 3 sets of 30 minutes. We’re looking forward to it!

We also have a gig coming up on the 27th of October. We will be rocking our local pub The Good Mixer in Camden and we can’t wait to be back! And on Halloween, 31st of October we will be playing again at Temple of Art & Music (TAM) in south London. This time it will be a headline show, rocking a 90 minutes set.

If you are reading this in October 2024 we hope to see you at one of those gigs. If you are reading this later, please check out our website for the most updated gig list.

Thanks for your continued support and we will see you at one of our gigs soon!

Rock’n’roll! 🤘

LOST GRAVITY + Angra

Hello guys,

If you follow us for sometime now you know that I like keeping a written record of LOST GRAVITY’s history via blog posts. I know this is old school and nowadays very few people have time to read blogs, but here we go. If you don’t have the time to read this now, just go back to instagram and scroll through some funny videos…lol

This month (June 2023) has been an important month for us coz we got to play our first gig opening to a famous band. Brazilian melodic metal band Angra was on tour in Europe celebrating their 30th anniversary and they had a show in London. I saw these guys for the first time in São Paulo back in 1996 when they were supporting AC/DC on the Ballbreaker tour. Fast forward 27 years and it was now our turn to open for Angra.

We played a set of almost one hour and the crowd really enjoyed our music. it was great to see some old friends, and we got to make some new fans/friends on the night. The day after the show seeing the comments of some Angra fans saying that they ended up buying our t-shirt instead of Angra’s was something to be really proud of. It made me think of an article someone wrote about us a few years ago where they said that LG would fit in any festival line up. That was spot on! Even though our music is a kind of heavy rock with some grunge influences, it did go down really well amongst the melodic metal fans.

LOST GRAVITY live at The Underworld, London 14th of June 2023

As nothing is perfect, the hours before the show were a bit stressful thanks to some arrogant “rock stars”, but I’d rather not write details here. If you know us personally, you already know what happened that day…lol

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came down to the show to see us (specially those travelling from far!), and a very special thanks to our top friends Marcello and Carlos (aka The Twins) and Trevor for their help with everything!

If you live in London, we have a couple of shows coming up in July and August. They will be announced soon so stay tuned!

Cheers!

2022 – Year in review

Hey guys, it’s been a while! My last entry here is from over 3 years ago! Time flies when you’re having fun (or when you spend two years away from normal life because of a pandemic….lol).

This is just a quick blog (does anybody still read blogs?) to keep on record what happened since my last post back in October 2019. At that time Giuliano left the band and I started the auditions to find a new drummer. After auditioning a few time wasters I finally found someone good, we actually got to book a gig with the new line up but then the world closed down coz of corona in March 2020.

Fast forward two years, one afternoon in March 2022 while chatting on the phone with Giuliano we talked about playing a show together again. Coincidentally, just one day later we got the offer to play at Cart & Horses in East London. That’s the famous venue where Iron Maiden played their first gig ever back in 1977! I’ve always wanted to play there so we took the gig.

We had one month to get ready to be back on stage. On the first rehearsal we were a bit rusty coz we didn’t remember all the details for the bass track but if felt like we had never stopped playing together. After the second rehearsal we were already ready for the show!

It was great to be back on stage after two years and a half! It was the first time in my life that I didn’t play a gig for that long!

After that show we decided to book a gig in May at one of our fave London venues, St. Moritz Club. Around the same time we got an offer to play in June at The Rock Den in Hatfield, another one of our fave venues.

A friend of mine Mark came to see us at St. Moritz Club and a few weeks after that show he asked us if we would like to play in September at Hadleigh Summer Fayre. We said yes and since Mark is a bassist he got on board to play bass with us. It was the first time in over five years that we played as a power trio. On that show we also had a special guest singing a cover song with us. My mate Carlos sang Killing in the Name and it was great!

Live at Hadleigh Summer Fayre (our first show as a power trio in five years)

We played at St. Moritz Club in August and we debuted a new song, Fantasy Life (working title: Ego Illusion). In October we played there again, this time as a power trio.

I’m writing this blog on the first week of 2023. We have just announced a birthday party show for the 4th of February at St. Moritz Club. Mark’s birthday is the same day as mine (5th Feb). This is gonna be a good party!

If you are reading this in time, come celebrate with us. Details can be found on the shows section on our website (click here).

That’s it for now. Bring on 2023!

Rock on!!

The end of a chapter

Hey guys,

As some of you already know our St. Moritz gig on Saturday 12th Oct 2019 will be special as we celebrate the 5th anniversary of our debut album. Also, I would like to let you know that this is gonna be Giuliano’s last show with LOST GRAVITY.

Sharing the stage, the car, the plane, the hotel rooms and recording two albums together has been more than awesome, but after seven years it’s time to go our separate ways. I wish Giuliano all the best on his new projects and soon I’m gonna start holding auditions to find the new drummer of LOST GRAVITY.

As always, thank you all for your support. It means a lot to me! And I hope to see you guys at the gig on Saturday. Cheers!

Happy 2019!

Happy New Year, friends!

Thank you all for supporting us throughout 2018! Here’s a few highlights of the year:

⁃ New album released.

⁃ Shows in England, Poland, Czech Republic and Ukraine.

⁃ Our first open air festival playing in front of a few thousand people.

⁃ Three music videos released.

⁃ Many great shows in some of our fave London venues.

In 2019 we’ll start writing our third album and will be bringing you more rock’n’roll!

God bless you all!

Shine

This week we have released a new music video: Shine. You can watch it on YouTube clicking here.

Shine was the first song that we wrote after the our debut album came out. We played it live a couple of times and somehow an early version of the tune ended up on YouTube, filmed at Camden Rocks Festival 2016.

A few months before we recorded our second album “How to Make a Giant” we decided not to play this song live ever again. Back then something didn’t feel right, maybe it was the tempo of the song or the arrangements, we don’t know. It just didn’t have enough power to be on our live set.

Funnily enough when we recorded the new album the song got a new life and it became one of our favourites. We liked it so much that we chose it to be the first single and now we play it at every show usually as the set opener.

The video footage was taken from our show at Rock&Buh Festival in Ukraine earlier this year. We hope you like it! And if you do, please share it and help us spread the word.

Rock’n’roll!!

Our first open air festival.

Now that we are back in England, we’re reflecting on how awesome the shows in Ukraine were! We kicked off the tour on Wednesday 23rd of May playing a small club in Lviv.

The following days we played in Kalush, Dubno, Lutsk and Khmelnytskyy. There were five gigs in total and we got to meet a lot of cool people and make new fans and friends.

The final show on Sunday 27th was at Rock&Buh Festival. We were very much looking forward to this gig as it was our first open air show ever!

Rock&Buh Festival 2018

The gig was fantastic! Playing our music in front of thousands of people was one of the best experiences we’ve had as a band so far. The crowd was insane, the mosh pit never stopped and at the end of our set they asked for more so we played one encore.

Ukraine made us proud! We loved it there and we are sure we’ll be back soon!

Rock’n’roll!

The first 10 years

London, 11th of October 2017.

As I write this I am sitting on the tube going to band rehearsal getting ready for our gig at The Black Heart this coming Saturday.

I just thought about what I was doing exactly 10 years ago. And guess what it was? I was sitting on the tube going to band rehearsal…lol

Yes, it’s been 10 years now! I remember this date because our very first show ever was on the 12th of October 2007 in Kentish Town, London. The bar was called Bullet Bar and as many other London music venues it doesn’t exist anymore.

That show was really cool! We had the support of about 30 friends who turned up to see what LG was about. I remember I didn’t even have a decent amp and my friend Mark let me borrow his Marshall (thanks again mate, in case you’re reading this). My friend Dan filmed the gig and I must have it on tape somewhere.

The world was a bit different back then before iPhones and YouTube became popular. And the band looked very different too! We were a 4 piece back then, now we are a duo. I was in my 20s and I was hungry to play rock’n’roll. Not many things have changed apart from me now being in my 30s and a few grays…lol The passion to play rock’n’roll is the same. Actually it’s a bit bigger now after going on for so long!

10 years gone!

I knew what kind of music I wanted to play and never lost focus. I’ve met many people along the way who thought they knew what they wanted too. In fact, for a moment they thought that LG was what they wanted to do. Most of them were wrong and I’m grateful for having met so many different musicians (some of them “wanna be musicians” – if you’re following us since the MySpace days you know who I’m talking about – I wish the wanna be musicians stopped joining us in the MySpace days…lol). But anyway, everything was good because it made me learn a lot about people and about being in a band that has a direction.

I’ve lost count of how many different line ups we had, but just over five years ago the biggest change happened in the band. Giuliano joined us and then things got serious. The band went to another level musically speaking as well as at the live shows. What we have achieved together since then has been really rewarding: one full album recorded. Another full album on the making (as I write this we only have the vocals left to be recorded for on our second album). Many cool festivals played. Shows in different cities all over England. We’ve got our music featured in a few radio stations. Many interviews done for some cool magazines and music blogs. A few music videos released. And most important of all, our music have reached a lot people from gig to gig and the feedback is usually positive. More than the plays we’ve had on Spotify, YouTube or cd sales, the reaction at our live shows is always amazing and that’s a constant that never changes, thankfully.

Ten years later I can say that we are on the right way and I hope to carry on living and loving LG for many more “10 years” to come.

Rock’n’roll!

A New Season Has Begun!

Hey folks, how are you doing?

It’s been a while since my last blog post. So much has happened since “broken bones” (if you follow this blog you know what I am talking about) .

For those of you interested, the recovery from surgery was perfect and now over 11 months later my foot is 100%! (thanks again to everyone who was there for me during the hard times, recovery times and thanks to those who asked me how I am doing). Thanks God I am walking and running again!

So speaking of LOST GRAVITY, so much has happened since my last blog post (Nov 2015). Guess what? More line up changes again… and again!

Last December we parted ways with David (bassist). We ended 2015 playing an awesome New Year’s Eve show with our friend Connor Meighan helping us out on bass. Connor had only 5 days to learn the set. We had one rehearsal but we rocked hard at the 12 Bar in Holloway Road! The feedback after that show was awesome and it was a great way to celebrate the end of a great year for LOST GRAVITY! Thanks to Connor we were able to play the gig!

The first half of 2016 was a bit slow. We played only 4 shows with our new bassist, Andrew. They were: The Barfly (1st of April), Camden Rocks Festival (4th of June) and two gigs at The Lounge (23rd of June, a rainy Brexit Referendum Day and 8th of July at The Lounge Fest).

The Barfly and The Lounge gigs were great! But our Camden Rocks Festival 2016 show was a bit disappointing (at least for me). The sound was really bad and that took away a lot of my enjoyment of being on stage. Last year playing this festival was much more fun!

In July we played a couple of gigs outside London. One show at Harvey’s in Luton ( 22nd of July) and a festival in Hatfield, The Den Fest (30th of July). This festival was definitely a day to remember!

Dean, the festival organizer, really knows how to put on a show and it was a pleasure to be on the bill. Top people involved in the organization, everything running on time, great stage, cool lights, smoke machine and the most important of all: the perfect sound! It makes such a difference when you are on stage playing with a decent sound. The feedback we had when we came off stage was amazing! The crowd in Hatfield is fantastic and we look forward to playing there again!

We could play both gigs in July (Luton and Hatfield) just because once again we had our friend Connor stepping in last minute since Andrew couldn’t make those shows. Connor had only 1 week to relearn the songs and only one rehearsal before each show to get the set together.

Now summer has just finished and a new season for the band has just started.

I am pleased to announce that our friend Connor Meighan is now a full time member of LOST GRAVITY! If you wanna know more about Connor, click here.

I would like to say thanks to Andrew for the time in the band and wish him all the best in his future projects.

Bring on Autumn 2016!

Rock on!!

Broken Bones (but still standing)

Hey guys, how are you doing?

If you follow our blog you must know that I like keeping a written record of the LG history. (Okay, I still haven’t written about 2014 but I’ll catch up with that one soon…lol).

On Friday 2nd of October 2015 we played a gig at The Barfly. It was our biggest attendance to date and we were all very much looking forward to play that show. That afternoon, around 4pm when we were getting ready to go to the venue I had a home accident and hurt my foot really badly. It hurt like f*** and I don’t think I’ve ever felt so much pain in my life.

Thanks God we had some ice cubes in the freezer, my flat mate Puma had some bandage in the house and our friend Anderson was with us when the accident happened and helped me out with his first aid skills!

One hour later we were ready to go to the venue and I was in a lot of pain!

12079179_10153334856207763_3753720731550375864_n

No champagne, just ice.

The show was fantastic and the crowd was brilliant! Although I had to sit down to play the usual energy from a LOST GRAVITY show was present on stage! Giuliano and David rocked harder than ever and we put on another awesome show!

After the show the feedback we had was amazing! Some people who were at the back said they didn’t even notice that I was sitting down during our set…lol

Rock out with your foot out

If you want to watch a video of the night here is the link: https://youtu.be/RGxKt-jPwv4 🙂

The next day my foot looked like a balloon and after a sleepless night coz of the pain I went to the hospital to have my foot checked. The scan showed 2 broken bones and the docs said I needed a surgery to get this fixed as soon as possible.

“It’s just a sprain”

So here I am, writing this blog from home as I recover from surgery. Everything went well thanks God! and we will be back on stage rocking hard very soon! 😉 In fact our next show is on the 12th of December at The Black Heart (Camden Town). If you’re reading this before that date you can buy your tickets clicking here. You can see below a few photos from the Barfly show. Such a great night!

I would like to sign off saying thanks to all of you who have supported me throughout this whole time! My family, flat mates and close friends for being there for me every day! Thanks to everyone who couldn’t be here in person but called or sent me a support message. Thanks to everyone who has wished me well and prayed for a speedy recovery. You know who you are and you really make the difference everyday!

Finally I would like to say an extra special thanks to everyone at UCH. You guys are the best! Specially the team of surgeons and nurses from T6 North! I’ve been in England long enough and I know many people like to complain about NHS. For those of you who complain here’s my message: these people are angels on Earth, respect! I am very grateful to have been in their care when I was in hospital!

That’s all for now, folks. Thanks for reading.

Rock on!!
